1. Introduction to the miracle of 19

Islam is exactly the contrary of blind faith. Islam is the proven faith. The miracle of 19 is "the proof"; it provides physical, verifyable evidence of the existence of God. Semitic cultures like Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic did not have originally a numeration system like we do today. Like in every society, people needed to trade and count and had designed their own system: every letters of the alphabet had a numerical value assigned to them, and therefore people used to count with them. Up to this day, in some Arab countries, some people still count using letters.

Here are the numerical values (Gematrical Values) of letters of the Arabic alphabet:

1.1 History of the miracle and basic examples

In 1974, 1406 (19x74) lunar years after the revelation of the Quran, Rashad Khalifa made a scientific discovery which will be remembered in the history of mankind: the miracle of NINETEEN. After studying the Quran using computers for several years, he reached the conclusion that the Holy book of Islam is designed according to a mathematical structure far beyond human capabilities. Number 19 is mentioned only once as a word in the entire Quran, in sura 74, verse 30: 

﴾74:30﴿ “Over it (the Quran) is nineteen”.

This verse, like lots of others in the Quran, has an obvious and a hidden meaning. The obvious side of the verse is that 19 angels will guard the gates of hell (74:31). The hidden side is that number 19 is over the entire creation, most notably Quran, and guards or protects it mathematically.

Rashad became famous and at first very respected in the Muslim world in the mid-seventies and eighties for unveiling the great mathematical code which protects the Quran. One of his most momentous discoveries was explaining the function of the 14 mysterious Arab initials (the seven pairs, or arrangements) which preface 29 suras (chapters) with various sets of initials and protect a very large portion of the Quran from any alteration.

﴾15:87﴿ We have given you the seven pairs and the great Quran.

Ø The frequency of all letters of any given set of initials is multiple of 19 throughout the verses of suras where they are found. For instance, Sura 19, starts with 5 initial letters (K.H.Y.A.S.): These five letters occur a total of 798 times (19x42), in the entire sura.

Ø It was recently discovered that all 14 Arabic initials (the seven pairs) occur in the same verse exactly 114 times in the Quran (19x6), meaning that 114 verses contain all 14 Arabic initials.

Rashad Khalifa also discovered numerous extraordinay features of the Quranic code among which most of the following facts:

Ø There are 114 suras (chapters) in the Quran (19x6) 

Ø There are 6346 verses in the Quran (19x334, 6234 numbered and 112 unnumbered verses called "Bismillahs"), and 6 +3 + 4 + 6 = 19

Ø The word God occurs 2698 times (19x142)

Ø The word Quran, refering to God, occurs exactly 57 times, (19x3)

1.2 The "Bismillah", foundation of the miracle of 19

Ø All suras, except sura 9 (the article entitled "9:128-129" explains why), start with the following statement: “In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful” (commonly known as the “Bismillah”), which occurs 114 times, 19x6, in the entire Quran (one extra Bismillah is found in 27:30). This fundamental statement is composed with 19 letters.

Ø Each of the four key words (Name, God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful) of the opening statement (Bismillah) have a frequency that is multiple of 19 throughout the Quran, without exception:

Ø Furthermore, the addition of factors combined with 19 also generates a multiple of 19 (1 + 142 + 3 + 6 = 152 = 19x8).

Ø The Addition of gematrical values of the three names of God, Allah (66) + Al Rahman (329) + Al Raheem (289) = 684 = 19x36.

Ø Number 684 (19x36) is also the gematrical value of “Al Quran Al Kareem” (the holy Quran).

Ø There are exactly 1919 (19x101) verses in the entire Quran which include one or more of the four words of the Bismillah.

1.3 19: "The proof" of the Quran

Ø 19 is "the proof" of the Quran. The word "proof" occurs 19 times in the entire book. The gematrical value of "the proof" is 98. Sura 19 has 98 verses.

Ø Sura 98 is entitled "the proof" and it is precisely the sura where the word “the proof” occurs for the 19^th time. The word “The proof” occurs actually twice in sura 98:

﴾98:1﴿ Those who disbelieved among the people of the scripture, as well as the idol worshipers, insist on their ways, despite the proof given to them.

﴾98:4﴿ In fact, those who received the scripture did not dispute until the proof (19^th occurrence) was given to them.

Ø If we calculate the gematrical values of all letters from the first letter of “nineteen” in 74:30 ("Over it is NINETEEN") to the last letter of “THE PROOF” in 98:1 (18^th occurrence of “the proof” in Quran), there are 11004 letters overlapping 25 suras, and which gematrical values are 852948 = 19x44892. The significance is most profound: 19 is “the proof” (GV 98, sura 98)

Ø If we calculate the gematrical values of all letters from the first letter of “nineteen” in 74:30 to the last letter of “THE PROOF” in 98:4 (19^th occurrence of “the proof” in Quran), there are 11083 letters which gematrical values are 858230 = 19x45170. The significance is absolutely overwhelming: 19 is “the proof” (GV 98, sura 98)

Ø Sura 67: 67 (19^th prime number) is also the gematrical value of “PROOF” (بينة ,without the article “Al”), even though the word does not occur in the sura. If we calculate gematrical values from the first letter of sura 67 until the last letter of “19” in 74:30, we get 590995 = 19x31105 . Again “proof” symbolically connects with “Nineteen”.

1.4 Quran: Numerically structured

Ø The Quran is a numerically structured book which mentions 30 different whole numbers without repetition. The sum of these 30 numbers is 162,146 (19x8534).

Ø There are also 8 fractional numbers in Quran. There are thus 38 (19x2) different types of numbers in Quran.

Ø There are 285 (19x15) numbers including repetitions in Quran.

Ø The total of numbers in the Quran including repetitions is 174591 (19x9189).

1.5 19: The security system

The above are just minute examples (not even mentioning the decisive miracle of  "361" (=19x19), which has dramatic implications in Islam, read article on this website) of a comprehensive 19 based mathematical system designed by God to protect the Holy Quran from any alteration:  For instance, if one verse containing both words ”God” and “Name” were to be added or removed from the Quran, several of the mathematical properties above mentioned would be violated: Totals for the words “God” (occurs 2698 times = 19x142) and “Name” (occurs 19 times) would not be multiple of 19 any more; the combined frequency of the four words of the Bismillah (2888 = 19x19x8) would no longer be a multiple of 19, and neither would the total number of verses in the Quran (6346 = 19x334), nor the number of verses where the four words of the Bismillah are found (1919 = 19x101).

In other words, because there is such a miraculous, intricate CONVERGENCE of mathematical properties involving 19, any change in the Quran, through addition or deletion, even one single letter, consistently triggers the collapse of numerous mathematical properties involving the miracle of 19.

Another example is a password in a computer: if one single digit is incorrect or missing, if you add or delete anything, you will never access and witness all the marvels saved on the hard drive.

2. A crucial Question: Why 19?

2.1  19: The absolute Oneness of God

19 stands for the numerical value (each Arabic letter has a number assigned which is universally accepted), or gematrical value (GV), of Waheed, “ONE” in Arabic واحد (و  = W = 6 ; ا = A = 1; ح = H = 8; د = D = 4); thus 6 + 1 + 8 + 4 = 19).

2.2  19: God’s guidance.

19 stands for the gematrical value (GV) of the word “guidance” in Arabic (هدى) (ه = H = 5, د = D = 4; ى = Y = 10, thus 5 + 4 + 10 = 19).

﴾2:2﴿ Here is the book that leaves no doubt, guidance (GV 19) for the righteous.

﴾3:73﴿ Say, "The true guidance is God's guidance (GV 19)."

2.3 God is One:

19 symbolizes the Guidance and Oneness of God in the Quran and the universe. 19 reflects the awesome and core message of the Quran: “God (GV 66) is One (GV 19)”:

6619 is a prime number. It is the 855^th (19x45) prime number, also the gematrical value of the famous “seven pairs” (15:87), initial letters which we know are found at the beginning of 29 suras of the Quran and are an important feature of the miracle of 19.

God (gematrical value 66) structured the Quran in two very obvious ways:

1. It is divided in suras (114 chapters = 19x6).

2. Each sura is divided in verses (6234 numbered + 112 unnumbered = 19x334)

Ø There is obviously only one sura number 66: If you add up all gematrical values of all individual letters in all 12 verses of the sura, you get 85633 = 19x4507. The meaning is clear: God ( GV 66) is One (GV 19). 

Ø In the numbering system of Quran if you select all verses numbered 66, gematrical value of God (2:66, 3:66….19:66…) you get 34 verses. The addition of all gematrical values of all 34 verses number 66 is 118731 = 19x6249. Again the meaning is so obvious: God (66) is One (19).

Ø Number 66 and 19 are combined together only once in the numbering system of Quran in verse 19:66 The human being asks, "After I die, do I come back to life?". The gematrical value of the verse is 2527 = 19x19x7. The meaning, again, is crystal clear: God (66) is One (19).

3.  19, the physical evidence:

The 19^th occurrence of the word "God" in the Quran takes place in verse 2:55 (2 + 55 = 57 = 19x3), and it is also the 19^th verse which contains at least one of the words of the Bismillah (we know there are 1919 such verses in the Quran):

﴾2:55﴿ Recall that you said, "O Moses, we will not believe unless we see GOD, physically." Consequently, the lightning struck you, as you looked.

This is what 19 is about: It provides incontrovertible physical evidence to the world that God does exist and that He is One Divinity. 19 eraises all doubt from the hearts of the believers, but leaves people who deny the overwhelming evidence in profound doubt:

﴾74:30﴿ Over it is 19 ﴾74:31﴿ We appointed angels to be guardians of Hell, and we assigned their number (19) only as a test (1) to disturb the disbelievers, (2) to convince the  people who received the Scripture (Thorah, Gospel..., that this is from God), (3) to strengthen the faith of the believers (Muslims), (4) to remove all traces of doubt from the hearts of people who received the Scripture, as well as the believers, and (5) to expose those who harbor doubt in their hearts, and the disbelievers; they will say, "What did GOD mean by this allegory?" GOD thus sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is a reminder for the people.

4. 19: The hidden secret

Ø Number 19 occurs exclusively once in the entire Quran in sura 74, entitled "The Hidden Secret". From the first letter of the word "The Hidden Secret" (مدثر, gematrical value 744) in 74:1 until the last letter of the word "nineteen" (تسعة عشر) in 74:30, there are exactly 361 letters, 19x19. We can establish the link between the word "hidden secret" and the 361 letters which lead us to the word "nineteen" in the following manner:

Ø 744 ("hidden secret") + 361 letters (taking us to the last letter of "nineteen") = 1105. 

What is so extraordinary about number 1105 ? It happens to be the gematrical value in Arabic of ....."nineteen" (تسعة عشر), as written in 74:30 !

﴾74:1﴿ O you  Hidden Secret ! ﴾74:2﴿ Come out and warn !...﴾74:30﴿ Over it is nineteen.

19 is indeed the "hidden secret" which guards the Holy Quran from any alteration. It is the incontrovertible proof of the divine origin of Quran. It is the irrefutable proof of the existence of God. According to 74:31, only those blessed with acknowledging the miracle of 19 will pass "the test" and receive the light which has come along with Quran: Their faith will turn into certainty as a result of their sincerity.
